Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about pricing, hosting, security, and how we work. Still curious? Just ask.
Is hosting required with a website?
Yes. Every website we build needs an active hosting plan to stay online, fast, and secure. For Simple and Medium sites, hosting starts at $15 per month when paid for three years up front, $16.67 per month billed annually, or $20 per month billed monthly. Complex sites, such as e-commerce or heavy custom functionality, need more robust hosting, starting around $40 per month and quoted with your project. The one-time build fee and the ongoing hosting plan are separate.
Does hosting include changes to my site?
Minor tweaks and updates are included with every hosting plan, things like updating text, swapping a photo, or changing your business hours. Bigger changes, such as new pages, a redesign, or new features, are quoted separately, and we will always tell you the price before any billable work begins.
Can I get the source code for my site?
Yes. When we host your site, we manage all of the code and infrastructure for you, so most clients never need it. If you would like your own copy, project source code is available for an additional one-time charge: $100 for websites, and quoted per project for web applications.
How much does a website cost?
During our grand opening, every website build is 50% off. A Simple site, one polished page with multiple sections such as Home, About, Services, and Contact, is $250 (normally $500) as a one-time build fee. Medium multi-page sites are $500 (normally $1,000). Both need a hosting plan at $20 per month (or as low as $15 per month with multi-year billing). More involved or e-commerce sites are quoted individually, with more robust hosting from around $40 per month. You can see the full breakdown on our pricing page.
Can I see examples of your work before committing?
Yes. We keep a set of live, fully working template demos you can click through on our demos page, covering restaurants, contractors, salons, gyms, and more. Each one comes in several complete looks you can switch right on the page. A Simple build starts from one of those templates restyled to your business, and bigger builds go fully custom.
Are these really your prices?
For now, yes. We are a brand-new local company building our portfolio, so every website build is 50% off its regular rate as a grand-opening special: $250 instead of $500 for Simple, and $500 instead of $1,000 for Medium. These are the lowest rates we will ever offer, so if you are considering a project, this is a great time to start.
Do you build iPhone apps?
Yes. We build native iOS apps in Swift and SwiftUI for iPhone and iPad, and we handle the App Store submission and review process with you. Apps are scoped and quoted individually since they vary so much. Apple also charges its own annual developer program fee, billed by Apple directly and separate from our quote. One honest caveat: an app is not always the right answer. If a fast, mobile-friendly website would serve your customers just as well for a fraction of the cost, we will say so.
Do I need an app, or just a mobile-friendly website?
For most small businesses, a mobile-friendly website is the better first investment: it costs far less, it shows up in Google, and nobody has to install anything. An app earns its keep when you need something a website cannot do well, like working offline, push notifications, camera or sensor access, or a tool your staff or regulars open every day. Tell us what you are trying to accomplish and we will tell you honestly which one fits.
What is the difference between a website and a web application?
A website tells people who you are and is mostly the same for every visitor. A web application is software people log into to do something, with accounts, dashboards, and data. We build websites on a fixed-fee basis and custom Django web applications on a per-project quote.
Do you only work with businesses in Northern California?
We are based in Redding and love helping businesses across Shasta County and Northern California, but we happily work with clients anywhere. Everything we do can be handled remotely.
Will my site work on phones and tablets?
Always. Every site we build is responsive and tested to look and work great on mobile, tablet, desktop, and wide displays.
Is my website secure?
Security is built in from the start, not added later. Your site is served over HTTPS, uses hardened configuration, and follows safe practices throughout. For web applications, we add account security, permissions, and data protection appropriate to the project.
What about accessibility?
Every site ships with an accessibility widget that lets visitors adjust text size, contrast, spacing, and more, and we build with inclusive, standards-minded markup. It is the right thing to do, and it widens your audience and helps your SEO.
Do you offer ongoing blog and social media content?
Yes. We offer an optional content and marketing package for website clients, where we write regular blog posts and matching social media content to keep your site active and help your SEO. Pricing depends on how much content you want, so reach out and we will put together a plan that fits.
How do you compare to a typical template- or plugin-based site?
We build custom, lightweight sites rather than stacking heavy themes and plugins. With less code and fewer moving parts, our sites typically cost less than going rates for a comparable build, tend to load faster, and have a smaller surface to patch and maintain over time.
Can you host a website you did not build?
Sometimes. Reach out and tell us about your current site, and we will let you know whether we can take over hosting or recommend a better path.
How long does a project take?
A simple site can often be ready in a week or two once we have your content. Larger sites and web applications depend on scope. We will give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
How do I get started?
Send us a message through the contact page with a few sentences about what you need. We will reply within one business day, usually with a clear quote or a couple of quick questions.
